I've worked in digital marketing for the last five years, specialising in social media communications. I'm especially interested in new social media platforms (such as TikTok and Byte), improving relationships with audiences, and developing videos.
My career has seen me work in both the charity sector and higher education. In my most recent role at Edge Hill University I enhanced the organisation's existing social media presence whilst introducing new platforms such as TikTok and Snapchat. I also trained staff members to maximise their department's online presence, led a group of student Digital Content Assistants and worked with organisations including The Student Room and Tate Liverpool.
My Other Work
I'm a keen writer who loves to cover topics including social media, popular culture and video games. My various styles include academic writing, listicle writing and reviews. Examples of my work can be found here.
Through my social media work, I became interested in landscape photography. While this originated as a hobby, I plan to expand my skills even further. Examples of my photography can be found here.
I run a TikTok account called Work Your Social Magic; it's a crudely-drawn series about life as a social media manager, including the strange requests we regularly receive. You can also find us on Instagram.
My Personal Interests
In my spare time I enjoy running, and in the past I've done 5K runs on behalf of charities including Mind and Unicef. I'm a member of the Liverpool Frontrunners, a LGBT+ running group which offers training and support.
I grew up in a home with a mum who loved baking, and I've inherited (some of) her skills! I especially love creating different kinds of fudge (such as Kinder Bueno and Triple Choc) as well as cookies, brownies and rocky road.
I love playing video games, and this has influenced a lot of my work including the topics I write about and the inspiration for campaigns I run.
